Grace

Grace is often defined as, “The unmerited favor of God”.  This is true, but that definition only scratches the surface as to what the grace of God truly is.  It is the Grace of God that sent Jesus in human form, being fully God and fully man at the same time, to die for the sin of mankind.  It is by Grace that Jesus took what I deserved on the cross.  He endured the cruelest, most humiliating punishment on the cross to save me from an eternal hell.  The Bible says in, Deuteronomy 21:22-23,

And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:   His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; for he that is hanged is

of God; that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

Because of His grace, God sent His only begotten Son into this world to die a terrible, cruel death on the cross.  Jesus lived a pure and perfect life and did not deserve to die, especially by such an awful death.  His perfection was typified by the lamb that would be brought for sacrifice.  This lamb had to be spotless and pure with no broken bones.  Jesus was pure and sinless.  He also had no broken bones as none were broken during His crucifixion.  The legs of the malefactors on either side of him were broken to speed up their death.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Deuteronomy 21:22-23 (King James Version)

22And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:

23His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
