Can a Christian be a Democrat?

Only if a person ignores what the Bible says, and only if a person ignores what the Democrats stand for can a person be both a “Christian” and a Democrat.  The reason is that the Democrat platform is anti-Christian and anti-Christ.

Let us just begin with fundamentals and easy to grasp items.  Most people recognize the Ten Commandments.  Let us examine these commandments and how Democrat policies are anti Biblical.  It is recognized by this writer that Republicans and even conservatives are not perfect.  We do sin and fall short of God’s glory, to be sure.

The difference is that the Republican platform and the belief system of the conservative is not Anti-Biblical or Anti-Christ.  We will also remove from office those who claim to be conservative and do not live up to those conservative standards.

How can a person hold ideals or vote for those with ideals that are anti-Biblical and therefore anti-Christian?  With this in mind let us examine the commands of the Bible and the anti-Biblical stance of the Democrat Party.

1. Thou shalt have no other gods before me

The Democrat platform and ideology is against the God of the Bible and is tolerant of ALL other gods. This is shown in the fact that a Greek Orthodox church could not rebuild at ground zero, but a new mosque can be built at the very site where Muslim extremists spilled innocent blood. This is also demonstrated in the way Democrats are trying to expunge Christian religious activity from all public venues, but are supportive of a mosque at Ground Zero.

2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Do Democrats show mercy unto thousands of them that love God and keep His commandments?  If you answered yes to that question, please stop what you are doing, get packed and RUN, don’t walk to your nearest asylum.  Democrats are constantly finding ways to drive the God of the Bible from our public building and institutions.  Even Obama chastised believers for clutching our Bibles and guns.

While they are not making graven images to worship, Democrats do have in their midst those who worship the earth, so called femininity, and governmental power above all else.  The pagan left is a worshipful group, just don’t let that religion be that of the Bible.

3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

We often take a very narrow view on this scripture and really harm its true meaning.  Certainly if one adds a last name to God’s name that begins with “D” and ends with “n”, this is taking God’s name in vain.

However taking the Lord’s name in vain can also be using His name as an empty word, such as saying “Oh Lord”, when one is not prayerful or in the process of talking to God.

The way the Democrats take the Lord’s name in vain is that for 20 months out of the political cycle the Democrat wants nothing to do with God, even going so far as trying to remove any vestiges of God from our society.  But come election time the Democrat is not afraid to say what God has meant personally to the one running for office.  The Democrat will make it known that church attendance and prayer are an important part of the personal life.

This use of God in lip service to Him when it fits into election speeches, but the public life of the person is spent in opposition to the God of the Bible is using God’s name in vain.

4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Christians for two centuries have gathered together on the first day of the week to take the Lord’s Supper, lay by in store, and to worship together as the body of Christ.  In actuality there is however no Christian Sabbath.  Romans 14: 1-12 speaks of the liberty we have in Christ and Paul deals with those who regard days as special and those who regard all days the same.

Jesus told the Pharisees in Mark 2:28,

Therefore the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.

Jesus of course was speaking of himself as the Lord of the Sabbath.  Sabbath means to rest from labor.  God rested on the seventh day signifying completion of creation.

When a sinner puts his or her faith in Christ and what He did for us on the cross, that sinner ceases from the labor of salvation by works and enters Christ’s rest.  Jesus says to all,

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

All religions, save Christianity, are based on works and are basically self salvation.  Even a person who just tries to do more good than bad will realize that this is impossible.  To the Buddhist, Muslim, atheist, and even to the “Christian” who is trying to work to be good or to save himself, Jesus says,

Come unto me and I will give you rest.

This rest or peace is something you take with you as Christ comes to live in your heart.  The Christian is indwelt by the Holy Spirit of Christ.  He goes everywhere with us.

Do we listen to the Spirit of Christ when we enter the voting booth, or do we vote for those who break most of or ALL of the Ten Commandments?

5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Our generation has not honored our fathers and mothers to a large degree.  We have decided that almost everything our parents did is wrong.  We have, in large numbers, left our parents Christianity for nothing or a cheap substitute.  We have decided that sparing the rod does not spoil the child and that a child psychologist knows more than Mom and Dad and also God.  Proverbs 13:24 says,

He who spareth the rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him correcteth him betimes.

We have also not honored our fathers and mothers who left us with a national legacy like none other.  People of faith and principal founded this great country of ours and to a great degree we have lost this legacy of rugged individualism and even turn our backs on it.

We now fall for any Tom, Dick, or Barry that promises to pay our way from the womb to the tomb.  We have lost a sense of real personal pride that is not puffed up, but just wants the government to get out of the way so that excellence can be achieved.  Without the shackles of big government around our ankles, God’s will for our lives can be pursued without restraint.

6. Thou shalt not kill.

The Hebrew word for kill is translated as, ratsach, or murder.  There is a big difference in the word kill and the word murder.  A policemen or private citizen who has to use ultimate force to save the lives of others or his/her own life is justified; this person is justified in this killing.  God, in this verse, is commanding that the children of Israel not commit murder.  This is often called the shedding of innocent blood or killing in cold blood; premeditated killing which is murder.

The Democrat platform calls for the killing or murder of the innocent through the abortion mills and now with death panels we will have bureaucrats deciding when you and I have lived past our usefulness.  While offering womb to the tomb security, Democrats try to tear the unborn, and even the born, limb from limb.  Also while offering womb to the tomb security, Democrats wish to rid our society of those who do not fit into their idea of a person who is able to “produce” for our collective society.

Through the ages God’s voice is strong and clear,

Thou Shalt Not Murder!!!

7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.

It is amazing, but true that a United States political party would have in its day to day practices, justification for those who wish to openly commit adultery.

God’s definition of adultery is any sex outside of marriage.  God’s definition of marriage is one man and one woman.  This is found throughout scripture.

Genesis 2:24  Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Ephesians 5:31   For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Titus 1:6  namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion.

Those living in a sexual union other than that prescribed by God in Holy scripture, is committing adultery.  You might have a certificate saying that some state recognizes your bond as a marriage, but if it is not a marriage between one man and one woman, then it is adultery.  The Democrat party can say that this is now alright because of their enlightenment, but they are blind both morally and spiritually and cannot see or know the light.

God does not agree with the morally liberal of our day whether they reside in political parties or fallen churches full of hell bound spiritual illegitimates.

Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

It is a good thing we are no longer under the old law or many churches would be seeking new leadership and brushing the dust from their Bibles to see how they can keep their new leadership alive.

8.  Thou shalt not steal

The Democrat, as any statist, would have us believe that they alone should choose how our hard earned money should be spent and who should have a chance to spend it.  As the great Walter Williams pointed out in the speech from which  the video above was taken, this is thievery.

Sure, it is legal as are all of the immoral planks of the Democrat platform, but they are immoral as well.  It is easy for Democrats to be on the side of the law when those who wield the hammer of the law are as just as crooked as the Democrats are.  The Democrats have done a masterful job of filling the courts with like minded miscreants who also want to destroy this great nation brick by brick and stone by foundational stone.

9.  Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor.

Democrats have turned this into an art form.  Usually, this started with the Clintonistas, they accuse their opponents of doing exactly what they are doing themselves.  For instance, they claim that all Christians and especially those who hold office, are intolerant.  Meanwhile the Democrats have been trying to cleanse this entire society of public displays of Christianity.

Also, they blame the Republicans for the deficit, which they have quadrupled in just one year and a half.  In one year and a half Obama has run up more debt than ALL other presidents combined.  Yet, if you listen to the Democrat talking points, it is all the Republican’s fault and especially it is George W. Bush’s fault.  Of course the Republicans can’t do anything because of numbers and again Obama has quadrupled the debt he “inherited”.  Let’s be clear that when Obama was a senator, he never saw a spending increase he didn’t favor.

10.  Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s.

The Democrats for years have been telling people that it isn’t fair that some can afford a nice, big house and others can’t.  They even forced Fanny May and Freddie Mac to loan out amounts of money that people could never afford to pay back, because this is the kind and compassionate thing to do.  Now that those people are in danger of losing their houses, guess who will get to buy out their loans?  You guessed it if your guess is those who live within their means and looked for a house that was right smack dab within their budget.

Democrats have fostered the politics of jealousy for so long and effectively that today the very people that get a free pass from taxation and a full belly because of food stamps, hate and despise those the money comes from out of envy and covetousness.  People generally in our country feel slighted by those who are doing better financially, physically, and better in relationships than they are doing.  This has been fostered by the covetous attitude that the Democrat party foists upon its constituents, and all in the name of votes and staying in power.  To those not doing so well financially, the Democrat says, “My party will care for you”.

To the person living in a small house, the Democrat says, “We’ll give you a loan that you will never be able to repay, but don’t worry we intend to take from the haves and give to the have nots”.  We will redistribute the wealth of those who work hard for it to you who sit around all day and watch Oprah.  What does the Democrat get back for doing this.  The Democrat gets to stay in power because the recipients of the freebies will vote for the hand that feeds them EVERY time.

Exit Observation:  Can a Christian be a Democrat?  Can a Christian go into the voting booth as a Democrat?  The real question is, can a Christian go to the voting booth and not have his or her Christian convictions effect who is voted for or against on the ballot.  If you are a Christian and you stand against Christ with the way you vote, are you really a Christian?  If you are a Christian, Christ is in every nook and cranny of your life, including and especially involving WHO YOU VOTE FOR IN IMPORTANT ELECTIONS!!!
